STRONG WILLPOWER

The following is a recounted conversation between a guru and a follower: Under his breath, the student whispered to his master, “What is stronger?” Follower- “The mountain seems to be quite formidable. Would anything be able to govern it?

“Indeed, the iron hammer is master of it,” the Guru said. It breaks into a million pieces the moment the hammer strikes the rock.

“Iron is so strong,” the disciple said. Is iron a dominating force for anyone?

Master – “Yes, fire has the power to melt iron.” “Then what governs fire?” the disciple asked.

Teacher- “Water is so powerful that it can extinguish fire.”

Disciple-“It seems like water is the most powerful ruler on the earth.”

Air is superior than water, Guru. No matter the level of cloudiness. The clouds that are about to shower are quickly dispersed by the wind.

Teacher- “Is there anything stronger than the wind?”

My kid, yes, Guru. Absolute power comes from inside the human spirit.

Just keep in mind that when you lack the willpower, failure is the only option. Whoever sets their mind to something and works tirelessly at it will eventually succeed!

Personal resolve, self-control, and perseverance determine one’s level of success or failure. The phrase “resolution” describes an individual’s unwavering resolve. If we want to achieve our goals in life, we need to set our minds to it before we ever begin.

A lack of self-confidence prevents a weak-willed individual from trying anything new. It doesn’t matter whether he starts one; he always ends up giving up halfway through.

Humans fall into one of three categories: ordinary, exceptional, or insignificant.

1. Insignificant -Insignificant persons are those who are so paralyzed by fear of failure that they never even attempt anything new.

2. Unremarkable — These are the individuals that embark on an endeavor but abandon it midway through.

3. Outstanding —In the face of overwhelming adversity, exceptional individuals persevere and never give up on their endeavors.

A person who is determined stands out from someone who isn’t. A person who is resolved to achieve anything walks the walk, showing self-assurance, bravery, dedication, and constancy along the way. The opposite is true for the indeterminate individual; they get trapped at every turn. His self-confidence is low. For dread of failing, he dragged out his task. Also, some individuals start off determined, but their resolve wanes around halfway through.

The issue then becomes, “How can we strengthen our resolve?” Methods to enhance one’s willpower include:

1. Mastering your sensory apparatus.

2. Being able to calmly and peacefully endure suffering

Paying close attention. A person’s resolve is said to multiply by a factor of many when his thoughts are concentrated.

1.Developing Mastery of Your Senses: – Having command over one’s senses is challenging, but mastering them is an even greater challenge. Many issues have their origins in a lack of control.

A restless mind is the result of unbridled senses. These things make it hard for the brain to concentrate on anything. The two interact with one another. When individuals let their senses get the best of them, they miss out on life’s opportunities. Most people’s desire is sparked by their sense of touch, however others are more drawn to music or vibrant images. The fundamental reason that weakens willpower is attachment to all physical pleasures. Therefore, mastering our senses is of utmost significance.

Gaining control of our senses is the first step toward excelling in all areas of life.

2. Remaining Calm in the Face of Adversity: Every aspect of our everyday lives is confronted with challenges. How can we succeed if we cower in the face of even the most minor setbacks? The ability to remain calm under pressure is indicative of a strong will and the ability to confront and conquer obstacles.

A Jain ascetic must take five vows when they give up their worldly possessions. In order to faithfully adhere to these major vows, he must endure twenty-two trials outlined in Jain sacred writings, including extremes of heat and cold, starvation, thirst, and so on. No one can endure the aforementioned hardships if they are weak. Being tolerant, on the other hand, increases one’s resistance strength, which in turn helps one keep their health in its whole. Anyone seeking a life of spiritual austerity must master the art of mental and sensory self-deprivation. We need a strong resolve to make this happen!

Nobody ever made it to the top because they couldn’t handle the challenge!

3. Maintaining Concentration, Resolve, and Determination: When one’s mind is concentrated, his determination grows exponentially. As a result of mental wandering, resolve weakens and sways repeatedly. Our tolerance strength is diminished by a mentality that is easily swayed. An overactive and enthusiastic state of mind is another symptom of mental instability. In order to fill one’s spirit with spiritual vitality, mental discipline is crucial.

How to regulate one’s thoughts has been an important subject for humans ever since our species began to evolve. His mind was so difficult to control that not even the legendary Arjun could do it. Training one’s mind seems as impossible as capturing wind in one’s hand, a problem he brought to Sri Krishna’s attention. I don’t know how to do it. In response, Sri Krishna said that the only way to get mastery over one’s thoughts and emotions is to separate oneself from the material world and devote one’s energy to mental training. The human mind is a strange and unpredictable place. those that are beneficial to it are drawn to, whereas those that are detrimental are rejected from. From time to time, it becomes irritated and other times, it gets delighted. Mind control may be achieved by any spiritual practice.

“Spirituality lies in equanimity,” declares Lord Mahavira. According to him, equanimity is the origin of Jainism’s core principle, ahimsa, or nonviolence. Nonviolence is the result of calmness; aggression stems from attachment and repulsion. Being calm and collected in the face of any challenge is essential to living a pleasant existence.

One of the Jains’ religious rites that promotes tranquility is Samayika. With determination, it can be done. It aids in the development of stronger resolve as well.

Your own determination is more potent than anything else.

When one’s resolve is unwavering, they, together with their community and country, will never be defeated.

Within Hebrew literature, there exists a narrative: A head of army sat down in a pitiful state. He told his wife that his army was on the verge of defeat when she demanded to know why. That was the cause of his melancholy. The General discovered his despondent wife after she had departed. He saw this and wanted to know why she was so upset. The war was raging, the wife said, and the morale of her country’s army general had plummeted. His will had crumbled, and he had fled the battlefield in search of refuge back home. Besides that, what news could be worse? A sharp arrow went straight through the General’s heart with the wife’s response. After hearing his wife’s sentiments, he felt revitalized and went back to the battlefield. He rallied his troops, spoke words of inspiration and resolve, fought valiantly from the front lines, and ultimately prevailed in the war. Success in any endeavor requires an optimistic outlook and dogged persistence; this story serves as a powerful reminder of both.

Important Factors to Think About

1. Success is out of reach for those who lack determination.

2. Success is within the grasp of those who are endowed with a strong will.

3. When a decision is made, it’s important to stay committed and work hard to strengthen it.

4.  In order to fortify one’s resolve, it’s recommended to do things like train one’s senses and mind to be more self-controlled and to develop the ability to tolerate and overcome hardship.
